Minimize, Maximize & Close
These icons are found in the uppermost right hand corner.
This button allows you to "minimize" your current application window. This means that it will shrink down and disappear into the task bar (usually at the very bottom of your screen.) The file and program are still open, however the page is tucked away as a tab in the task bar. To restore it to its original size, simply find the tab with that file title at the bottom and double-click on it.
This button "maximizes" the current application to cover the entire screen. Once maximized the icon changes to the following picture - two squares in the box. When the screen is maximized, the window can NOT be resized by using your mouse and arrows to drag the edges to a different size.
When clicked again, this button will restore the maximized window down to its original size. Now, the resizing feature is again available. To learn more about resizing, click here.
This button is the shortcut to close the current page that you are working on. If you have not yet saved your work, a box will pop-up asking if you'd like to save it. You can choose yes, no or cancel. If you say "no," it is permanently gone.
PLEASE NOTE: If your computer is low of resources, keep as many of these windows closed as possible. If you are not planning on working in the window again shortly, close it. It will keep your computer running more smoothly and efficiently. |
