Internet Marketing CAN BE a Profitable Home Based Business

Internet marketing and home based businesses are definitely part of the social culture today. Rising living costs and inadequate incomes drive more and more people to look for ideas to work from home. In working with home based business owners over the past 12 years, and personally being an entrepreneur for over 30 years, I've seen just about everything. The good & bad of MLM, home party sales, networking marketing, home business opportunities and self-employment ventures that have made a few into milionaires but have ripped off more than I care to mention.

Google Page Ranking

If you are involved in internet marketing and promoting your home based business online, do you know where you rank with the search engines? Do you know where to find out what page you occupy with Google, MSN, or Yahoo? You will now!

1) Go to Google Account to create an account with Google. Simply enter your email address and choose a password. When you're done, go to your email, find the verification email and click on the link. You're done with step 1.

2) You need a Google Web API key. When setting up your account, you will be given the opportunity to receive Google Alerts on your favorite key words, blogging information, just about anything you could possibly want to know. Make sure to ask for the API key, you will be needing this next.

3) Now, go to GoogleRrankings

Enter the keyword or keyword phrase that you are focusing on - for example, Internet marketing training. After your first search comes back, you will do this same process with all of your keywords to see which ones are pulling the best ranking with Google.
Enter your domain name, or any website URL, that you are checking ranking on for the above keyword. You do not enter the http or the www. So, if I am checking ranking ofmy entire site, I enter ScyberBiz.com. If I am checking the ranking for a specific page like my Veretekk online training classes, I enter, ScyberBiz.com/veretekk_training. Start out with your main page though.
Enter the API Key that you were sent by Google. Check that box that tells them to remember the number. Also, write it on the outside of your Google file folder, and store it in your computer where you will know where to find it later.
Click on the box to include a Yahoo search for ranking of your keyword
Click on the box to include a MSN search for ranking of your keyword.
If you are brand new at this you probably will not be in the "top 40 sites" so from the drop down box, click on the top 1000 sites.
Click on "What's My Rank?"
Once the report comes up, print out the page and make sure that the date is shown. Keep this in your Google file folder so that you can refer back to it easily.
Check other keywords, and check every day or so... especially if you are aggressively working at increasing your internet rankings with the search engines.

Successful Internet marketing requires that you test, test and test some more. You need to know where you are at, and what's working for you. Are you publishing press releases, placing classified ads and creating free web pages? Are you creating optimized web pages that automatically do a lot of the work for you? Have you created your own blogs yet, and forums? Are you posting your links in the appropriate places and do you hyperlink back to your various web pages wherever possible? All of these strategies and internet tools are important, and none of them are difficult when you take it a step at a time.

Here's my personal story... I have had my website called ScyberBiz.com for several years, but it was focused on home based business, specifically on women working from their homes, performing computer related tasks. It also held various stories and articles about health challenges because of products that I was promoting at the time in health and wellness

Recently, I changed 90% of the site so that it now focuses on Internet marketing training andInternet marketing tools. A few weeks ago, when I did this... I was no where to be found in the rankings for those categories - maybe medical billing, or network marketing company product testimonials, or masterminding forums, or a whole array of pages I didn't even know I had my name on. As of today, my website name "ScyberBiz" is showing up on over 300 site pages, quite to my surprise. And you will find my name "Julie Willems" on over 1,000 pages - some of which are shared by other women of the same name, of course.

Additionally, in a few short weeks, I've now taken position #9 on Google for the category of Internet marketing training - and that's out of 156,000,000 site pages. The reason that I'm telling you this, is not to brag, but to let you know that the internet tools and strategies that I'm using, really DO work. The proof is in the Google Rankings!

So start watching where you are in the search engines, get to know what is increasing your popularity and therefore your traffic, and keep doing more of the same. Next, you may need to focus on what it takes to increase your cash flow, or all of the work you've done is for naught.
