For those who are just entering the world of internet marketing, these "geeks" seem to be conversing in a foreign language. There are so many terms and phrases used that make no sense whatsoever to the beginner, and continuously new words are popping up.
We hope that this ScyberDictionary will be helpful to shorten the learning curve. Soon, you will feel like an expert. When you run across one of those new words that you don't understand, email me or better yet fill in the QMTP form on this page, and I'll add the definition here for everyone to see.

What you find below is a very brief description of the terms, listed in alphabetical order. When you click on the word itself (a hyperlink), you will be taken to another page which gives more detailed explanations.

- Browser - A browser is a software application which allows you to surf the world wide web or internet by telling it what you are looking for. It then contacts a web server and sends a request for that information. When it receives the information, it posts it to your screen.
- FFAs - FFA stands for Free For All. Basically, an FFA site is nothing but a constantly rotating list of web sites. People list (advertise) their web site on the FFA page in hopes of generating traffic to their site. There's more....

- HTML - An acronym for HyperText Markup Language
- HTTP - An Acronum for HyperText Transfer Protocol. It is used as part of a website address when entering it into browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, etc.
- Hyperlink - A word or phrase that may be underlined, usually appears as a different color from the rest of the text, and when clicked on will direct you to another page. Photos and graphic are also used as hyperlinks.
- Homepage 1 - A homepage is the first screen or page that you see when you view a site. It is used as a welcome message or opening statement to let you know what to expect in the rest of the site. It may simply be a title page, a flash page or a table of contents.
- Homepage 2 - A homeage with many ISPs, Social Networks and other Gathering places, is simply a person's profile. It's an introductory page of who they are.

- ISP - This stands for Internet Service Provider. It is the company that you get your internet access through, usually for a fee. They are actually letting you use their server to make connection to the internet. Free ISPs will advertise on your page in order to derive income from their advertisers hoping that you will click and buy.
- Newsgroups - This is another internet marketing tool that allows public notices to rapidly travel around the world. Anyone with internet access can both read these messages, or post their own message. Thousands of categories exist on virtually every subject imaginable.
- RSS Feeds - Most commonly, RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Here's a whole lot more...
- Search Engine - Search engines are websites with tools to help you find information on the internet. They each have their own special functions and the most popular one these days is Google.
- Traffic Portals - Often called "gateways," portals are really like "mini web pages." Here's how Veretekk explains them...
- Toolbar - This is a bar across the top, bottom or one side of a program that holds buttons or tabs with words or icons allowing you to carry out certain commands.
- URL - The acronym for Uniform Resource Locator - it is actually the web site address. Most begin with http:// and then www.
